@BrimstoneLandscapes Damn I didn't know opinions were facts(sarcasm). I'll be honest yeah those bands are kinda gateway for people to get into Death Metal for some. But that doesn't destroy the quality and influence they put out on the metal scene(especially Death). So I'm gonna go back listening to CC and Immolation, since I don't really care if it is true or not due to popularity. DM will always be underground

The age thing couldn't be more off. Most teens like metalcore/dethcore when it comes to metal. Then again this is old and pre-internet. Information about subcultures was heavily distorted back then.
