  • nice gar.. i have two alligator gar.. 1 inside our indoor pond..its about 15" also.. the other 1 is an old swimming pool.. its more than 3 feet long..in a good shape too.. i'll psot a vid of it soon.. =))

  • @vanckleine Haha, so that's how you solved the issue of him outgrowing your indoor facilities.? What area of the country do you live in? It's not warm enough here to leave anything but goldifsh in our outdoor pond. I would love to see a video of the big guy!

  • @kingtr I am in the philippines. u may stil feed yours meat. just defrost it first and drop it near its mouth and it will just snap it really fast. im just 14 yrs old and fish is my hobby. i want to have a fullgrown gar thats why i decided to have gars at this age because it will take 25 years for them to fully grow... and mines friendly, i would like u to see me rubbing its back in the vid that i will post.

  • @vanckleine Thanks for the hint about meat! That's definitely a good age to start with one, I had my first aquariums at that age, then ended up having to put my hobby on hold while in college (moving huge fish tanks is NOT fun as you know!)

That's awesome that yours has been handled enough that he lets you pet him. Mine would allow it now and then, but not regularly. I'd love to see some videos of your gar though!

  • YO AWSOME FISH BRO!$

  • @shootda6 Thanks, he has since passed. :( I will get another one at some point in the future when I have the time and space..

  • that aint a florida gar its a spotted gar

  • @kingtr If you killed a gar of this size you should not own one. Poor fish snuffed out before he could even start.

  • es hembra

  • It seems like my Gars color keeps coming and going... when he does not eat he has a full dark strip going on his body, but it seems whenever he eats, he seems to lose his color like almost white like, is that normal can someone help me?

  • tank size??? i have 1 in a 75

  • @GM8productions Mine use to hang out at the surface a lot too. I fed the tank 5 (med) -10 (small) feeders daily, the gar prob got 1/4 of the food, at least 1 fishy a day. Mine was always pretty skinny, he tended to add length, and then fill out a bit, add length, then fill out, and on.
