I grew up in a conservative Christian home. When I came out, it didn't go down too well and my family decided it was best to cut me out of their life. I dont hate them, although I am disappointed. This video is primarily for my own mother, but also for all the parents of gay kids out there. Firstly, your children need you! Secondly, if you have reacted badly to the news, its never to late to tell them you're sorry and start again. For kids out there, who are maybe getting it tough from their friends and family, just remember, don't hold it against them. Its their lives which are miserable, not yours. If you do need support or advice there are people out there to help. There is me! And also an amazing group called the 'Gay Christian Network'. Please check them out at

Love ya all....
Note the song is 'No orphans of God' by Avalon. It means a lot to me, and i think the theme is beautiful regardless of whether you share the Christian faith or not.
This is my first time using my web cam, making a video and posting on YouTube. Be nice :p
Thank you so much for sharing your story. Just when we think things are "getting better," we are reminded of the risk of pain and hazards of coming out to family. Gay people have had to create their own families in this world. I wish you good luck and hope you have a support system during rough times.

Whatever happened to letting GOD be the judge..? I know, I could get my jaw broken, asking who, among us, is without sin.. And,. yet, we want to judge!

Yep. It's extremely difficult. Never really enjoyed my teen years cause of fears & for other reasons. Never have I felt so nervous when telling my mom 5 months ago & was so surprised by her calm reaction. A bit questionable but still accepting at the end. That was part A which was a weight lifted off my shoulders. Now its part B which is my dad who's one tough cookie to crack :(

Thank you so much for this. I was feeling alone since coming out to my mom, and this brought tears to my eyes. God Bless you.

Wow, what else is there to say? I just recently saw "Prayers For Bobby" with Segourney Weaver, I highly recommend it to be seen (for those who haven't yet) by parents and others who are going through this. I won't give it away, but it's a must, MUST, SEE!! Word of warning tho, get a box of tissues close by.

Wow, love this video, I felt all of those feelings up to the day I came out to my mom. I am so happy that my family did not reject me. I am so sorry that your family cut you out of there lives. I feel your pain, I know that has to be hard. I pry for any gay Christian out there that their family has cut them from the family because of who they are, what God made us to be. Thanks for the video, that is not an easy video to post on youtube.

More tears... You are so brave to put this out on video. Thank You! My mom didn't reject me completely. She just didn't want to hear about anything gay related in my life. It didn't leave much to talk about. Just keep praying for mom. Don't give up on your faith. You are loved!
