  • I have good luck with Devcon steel putty too.

Do you have a website or a facebook page for your company?

Just from talking to you a bit and watching your videos, you are very knowledgeable meticulous and do great work. I'd recommend you to anyone. And I may have you do my next barrel job.

Another plus, is that you said YOU DO WHAT THE CUSTOMERS WANTS! With many guys it's their way or the highway, and wont work on your rifle. Unless its a safety issue i think thats BS.

  • @joeshmoe12301230 and what release agent do you use?

I use kiwi neutral polish. Ive heard of guys using Pam cooking spray, but using it cooking, it looks like it would foam up a bit and also be way too runny...

  • @joeshmoe12301230 Kiwi also works, but takes longer to dry. Use the Johnsons paste wax, one good application, and you will be telling me how happy you are that you did.

  • @joeshmoe12301230 Thank you. I no longer have a business, it's been retired. I also use Devcon before, and steel bed from brownells. Can't go wrong with either, just cost's a bit more. For a couple of rifles, cost is really no issues, but when you bed many, cost makes a difference.

  • @joeshmoe12301230 Oh, and by the way, the customer in a custom shop is always the boss. He's paying for it, then he better be getting what he wants, or leave and seek him who will satisfy you. Period.

  • Suar08: Thank you very much for your excellent videos! They have been an IMMENSE help to me in my bolt gun projects. Videos like yours take a LOT of time and effort to produce, especially while you're busy with custom rifle building projects, deadlines. All your videos are detailed, helpful and informative. I have watched many repeatedly, and I feel as though I am learning from the best gunsmith I've seen. You've given me confidence to bed two of my Remingtons in the next couple weeks. Thanks!

  • @warcog Thank you for the compliment, I do appreciate it.

  • @suar08161991 well that's sad to hear. its a loss to the rifle community. that's one less quality riflesmith that's no longer available.

but thanks for making these videos and spreading your knowleadge. Most guys who really know what they are doing dont want to give away any "secrets" because that its less business for them. So guys like me who enjoy doing what they can at home are left to figure it out. Or buy some book, God forbid HAHA.

    thanks again for the vids!

  • @suar08161991 Thanks alot for taking the time to reply. I'm going to try my first bedding job once I work my self up to it.

  • @bzhfbz The bedding will get into that area, that's why it is very important to liberaly coat the bolts with Johnson paste wax. I have never had a problem removing them. The pillar holes will then have to be drilled out to remove the compound.
