The first time this Dynajet has ever been run. A valved pulsejet engine, a smaller version but same concept as was on the "buzz bomb" V-1.

The reed valve was rusty and broke a petal off right away, which is why it stops and won't relight. This engine was given as a gift in 1958, so it's at least 52 years old.

  • In 1958, I was 12 years old and remember seeing advertisements for this pulse jet, in Scientific American. Of course, I could never afford to buy one and had to be content with reading the advets over and over and looking at the pictures.

At 52 years of age, that is certainly a classic! Are you planning on fixing the valves, getting it running and showing us more?

  • @rlewis1946 Do you happen to remember the price of it then? Now they go for about $200 on eBay.

I will be getting it going again, I think I have a spare reed in a box somewhere. I also asked another pulsejet guy if he knows of anyone still selling them; if not, I may have a new batch laser cut.

I'd like to build an RC plane with this engine and the first person view flying I've shown in other videos.
