The Steel River on the North shore of Lake Superior has wild runs of Steelhead, Chinook and other salmon species, and wonderful Coaster Brook Trout. It is the only significant north shore river that remains largely unmolested by commercial activities. The North Shore Steelhead Association is working to have the Steel River protectect from all development.
