Everytime She Passes By:
Okay, I'm goin' a little out of order here - due to overwhelming requests (LOL, that's a joke, but a couple freinds wanted to hear/see this one), I'm actually going to go out of "chronological" order here, skipping over the fourth video ("Kisses Don't Lie) from my debut CD and going straight to the first single from "Whre I Stand", my second CD on Capitol...After comin' off my year and a half road trip from touring the debut CD, I jumped into the process of writing and recording the second CD, and "Everytime She Passes By" was one of the tunes I wrote in that pressure-packed time period...It's got a modern-day Buddy Holly groove to it...And I wrote it with an old friend Micheal Heeney, who I hooked up with to write "Kisses Don't Lie" from the first CD. We also write one of my favorite tunes on the second CD, called "The Invisible Man"; that one might be the song I'm most proud of writing to this day. Anyway, I digress...
It was the summer of '98 when I flew out to somewhere in Suburbia Los Angeles to shoot "Everytime She Passes By"...It was a blast because, finally, I had finished the writing and recording process and couldn't wait to get back out and play the new music for everyone - and the video shoot was and is always the first sign that everything is rollin' in that direction again! The song is a big summertime tune, and I wanted to reflect that mood in the video...We did so by shooting it outdoors, in a cool little "Edward Scissorshand" kind of neighborhood in LA, and for extra "Spice" we added a mariachi band that was off the hook (they played for me during the down time while we shot the video - these guys were the real deal!!!). Anyway, they coudn't speak a single word of English, so directing them was difficult at times...especially during the scene of us playin' softball...but it made me brush up on my Spanish, and these hombres always had big smiles on their faces...che ck 'em out on the pool side scenes in the video!
The actress in the video (sorry, I don't remember her name), was fun to work with...Her smile was awesome, her eyes, and well, I should just stop there! She was great - we both had some "issues" on climbing up on the roof to shoot the rooftop scenes in the video, but we made it through and we laughed the whole time doin' it!

There's more country in George Ducas' shadow than in the entire lineup of some of these current, gimmicky top-40 "country" acts. It'd be nice to see DJs on radio and CMT spinning even a few of these old-schoolers' songs (Steve Earle, Robert Earle Keen, Radney Foster to name a few).
