It was the 90's, and a hit-desperate and not-100%-clear-thinking Frank Sinatra made an ill-advised move—a "Duets" album where he half-assed-ly teamed with unlikely, mid 90's pop-stars. It worked in some of the instances in that it returned Frank to a level of relevance...and failed miserably when he pushed it to a second album that ended up being his recording swan song.
In this sketch he makes a "live" appearance in front of the Apollo audience with a duet partner—from one "Gangsta" to another "Original Gangster"—a then page-boyed Snoop.
"Cruisin' doen the strip smokin' Luckies...sippin' on scotch and rocks!"
Written by Michael Mabern & Yusuf Lamont, and starring Michael Mabern & Yusuf Lamont performing live on the Apollo stage.
Featuring "Ray Chew & The Crew" as the band supplying the "swingin' charts".
