A little over three months of growing. Look how much the kalo has grown!
Also shows me planting more Moi kalo baby plants I got from the original 10 Moi plantings. This planting I got 19 oha total.
Moi kalo is very good eating poi taro as well as table taro. Plus the "lau" (leaf) makes for good chicken luau or for laulau wrapping. I also planted Mana Ulu which is a prized table taro (yellow colored) as well as good for making kulolo!
I think most likely I'll concentrate on cv. Moi and Mana Ulu for my main plantings.
Note:
Kalo Malo'o means dry taro growing. Kalo wai means wet taro growing. Lo'i Kalo (wetland taro) is a misnomer as early hawaiians never called it that (ref. Beatrice Krauss).
you on O'ahu? any chance you could sell me some mana ulu or moi kalo????
