It's a ridiculous idea, and no one in their right mind actually believed it, but we all laughed about it like it was real, anyway. That's the joke =P

You're right. She had just finished shopping and picked up McD's afterwards for the family. I got actual good presents, including a Kodak video camera, season 2 of Family Ties on DVD among a couple more gifts.
