To try and keep this short, the Custom PC market is fantastic. You can build your desktop to whatever you want but the Custom Laptop market isn't great. Sure there are sites you can go to and
build your own but it's not as expansive as the Desktop market. I was using the Gateway FX 7805-u, a great gaming laptop, but it was starting to show it's age. I had aleady upgraded the RAM and the HDDs where I could but I knew with BF3 on the horizon, it'd be hard pressed to enjoy it in all it's graphical glory on it. Selling it and saving up some, I was determined to build my own Laptop without paying the "Gaming Laptop" price currently out there. (I'd love to be able to afford the new Razer Blade, but it's just unrealistic for me right now).
As you can see, the idea of it being a "Lap" top has gone by the wayside this first go around and this puppy's pretty big. Weighing in at over 50lbs, my ideas have converted a "Custom Laptop"
into a "More Portable Desktop". I know it may seem like I've taken a step back due to the size and weight but this is only my first go at this and I'm determined to get it smaller and lighter.
My friends Evan and Steve get huge kudos for helping with their tool and cutting expertise, working off the designs I gave them. With their work and my finishing touches, you have what you see
in the video today.
I know they make PCI extenders but the reviews on them weren't ringing endorsements. I definitely want to find a way to use bigger powerhouse style graphics cards but thin the box down some.
Any suggestions on how to get it thinner, I'll gladly take them.
Definite improvements for the second try:
1 - Looking to use High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Sheeting instead of the MDF (Dense Wood) to lighten the load.
2 - Buy a LED monitor instead of an LCD to further improve loss of weight and materials used for top half.
3 - Leave room to tuck wires so unplugging and replugging keyboard, mice, etc won't be needed
4 - Building on 3, figure out a way to have a retractable spool for Monitor/PSU Power Cables, HDMI Cable, Ethernet Cable.
Thanks for taking the time to watch this video and enjoy!
Will your monitor go out early due to the heat?

@dillondailynews Hahahaha, yeah, seriously, a bit much but this is just Mark 1, I plan on building a new case for it with much needed improvements.

@dillondailynews 3 focuses regarding heating when designing this. It's got a divider in the middle, the left side (facing the monitor) has the power supply bringing in cool air and pushing hot air out towards the hard drive and a 120mm fan pulling the hot air out the left side. The right side has a 90mm from the back pushing in cool air and the graphics card is pulling out the hot air. The monitor is mounted to the back and there's a wide border between it's borders and the case to keep cool.

@GoldenGamer10 Definitely epic in size and power behind the machine, but I definitely need to get it lighter and thinner! Thanks for the comment!
