From the film "Thirteen Days" (2000). On the 8th day of the crisis, October 24, 1962, The U.S. has set up a naval blockade around Cuba. President Kennedy is doing what he can to avoid armed conflict and still stand up to the Soviet ships that appear to attempt to run the blockade. This was the first of many days during the 13-day crisis that looked like the U.S. and the Soviet Union were going to engage in all-out nuclear conflict.

  • Is the guy in the war room Secretary of defense Mc Namara :o?

  • @RadioOperator01 Yes, the guy with the glasses in the Pentagon on the phone with the President is then Defense Secretary Robert J. McNamara (Dylan Baker).

  • Was the US Scared to go to war With the USSR

  • @HHHHBK1000 as it would've meant the end of civilization as we know it, I'd say both sides were (in the end) frightened to go to war with each other.

  • I think that President Kennedy did a great job in preventing the Cuban Missile Crisis from becoming World War III between the United States and Russia. Kennedy was a great President and I also think that Robert Kennedy would've been a great President as well. "Thirteen Days" is a really great film and it's one of my favorite films of all time. Thanks for posting these scenes.

  • Well said, the Kennedy's a family of faults but born on nobility as well. I agree 100%.

    I still miss Bobby.

  • @BatmanOneOhOne Haha, I agree.:P

  • If I was Kennedy, I would have brought in a chess grandmaster or two to give me some tips.

  • ... a strange game. the only winning move is not to play.

  • Wow this flick has been so helpful and informative to me for my Cold War class! How accurate is this film?

  • @DoDoDJZ The United States should have invaded Cuba in 1961.

  • @NX74656 There was never any danger of war. Kruschev only put the missiles on Cuba to force Kennedy to remove all US missiles from Turkey and Italy.

  • who da fuck allowed the blockade? its cuba's and ussr own business, why should us intrefere? they feel like owners of the universe, sh*t... nikita should've pressed the button

  • @acoustiqueapple Not a problem if you looked at the Canadian flag and Lebanese their very similar and very easy to be confused with

  • @Texan2525 Thanks for the response. :)

  • @acoustiqueapple actually that is not a Canadian flag that is a Lebanese flag. the ship is called the Marucla under the Lebanese registry not all of the ships in the U.S. blockade were not soviet registered ships that were stopped by the U.S. navy
