I have to watch this every few months -- the music, the choreography, the way he "swigs" the drink, the chills you get when the lighting turns red and the pace increases...this is genius, in both the choreography and dancing.

It is simply cool. I have watched it three times to get all the meaning of the dance. I love Smekalov, I think he will be great choreographer one day. (I watched Obraztsova-Shklyarov version, and understood that Smekalov knows better what he wants to see in his piece of ballet)))
I also was rrrrreally surprised to see this Obraztsova, you know, she seems to be just romantic lyric heroine like Giselle or I don't know, and here she shows so much passion. Bravo!!

I wonder if the Mariinsky management actually realizes what a gift they have in the face of Smekalov.I cross fingers they don't abandon him in 2nd and 3rd banana roles,but work intensively to develop his truly unique characteristics!
