We were so intent on watching the lion we didn't see the waterbuck until the lion sprang into action. It happened so quickly our grip on the camera loosened so we had a few seconds footage of the glove compartment of our hire car , which we edited out.
Interestingly, the lions used the parked cars as camouflage as they were stalking. The lion that brought the waterbuck down crossed the road behind us and the the lions that joined it went 20 metres in front.
