Paramount's "College Rhythm" featured the popular Joe Penner, singer Lanny Ross, and a musical score by Mack Gordon and Harry Revel that included the major song hit "Stay As Sweet As You Are" and this posted tune which was performed on screen by Lyda Roberti in her trademark fractured English. Though Roberti did make a studio recording of "Take A Number" with the Jimmie Grier band (released on the Columbia label), Grier also recorded this different version at the same session.
78rpm courtesy of Rick's Vault: Brunswick 7307 - Take A Number From One To Ten (Gordon-Revel) by Jimmie Grier & His Orchestra, vocals by Betty Roth and The Three Cheers. Recorded 10/5/34.
Wonderful! I love Jimmy Grier and his Orchestra! Thanks for posting and what great sound!

@roybo1930 Terrific 30s talkie hit and what better band to play it but the one that entertained Hollywood stars at the Coconut Grove itself! What a happy arrangement. This is my new favorite of this! Thanks Roybo for telling me about it
