That's exactly what you did. You assume that all "blobs of lard" sit on the couch and eat donuts all day long. That's judging character on appearance (I'm not talking about the morbidly obese - that extreme likely IS a result of either a bad lifestyle, or a medical condition). MANY heavy people DO exercise and eat healthy. I KNOW people like that. I SEE them in my gym. Do you ever see a thin person and think "wow, she must sit on her ass and eat donuts all day"? No. But many DO exactly that.

Of course there's inner beauty. And of course judging character on appearance is ignorant. If anything, there's an inverse relationship, because unattractive people learn about humility and the futility of imperfection before the rest of us.

BUT, I never said anything about judging inner character, and neither does the DOVE video. That conversation is about physical appearance, outer beauty, and the facades we find attractive. My comments stand.

they aren't trying to dehumanize the attractive people, they're doing exactly the opposite of that. They're trying to show us how the attractive people are just like the rest of us,and how our vision of what we should be is a lie.I don't think beautiful people are a minority, because I don't think there is such a thing as a "beautiful person" because what may be beautiful in one person's eyes could be ugly in another's,and what's beautiful in another's could be ugly in one person's eyes

I'm not saying they are. But judging a person's character based solely on their appearance is ignorant, unfair, and just plain wrong. Plenty of what you consider "fat ugly chicks" (sic) DO work out and eat right. I'm a size 10-12, but I'm neither lazy nor gluttonous, and I know many other women like that. I also know many thin women who're lazy as fuck. The inability to have a size 4 body is not always a person's fault. And it's YOUR loss if you can't see past your "thin is beautiful" mantra.

interesting, where did they pick up this philosophy do you think, did they dream of it without any outside influence? Also, how exactly do you explain the increasing numbers of people affected by annorexia and bulimia? do you think this has no relation to the media's presentation of the ideal body getting skinnier and skinnier? i'd love to here your thoughts.

This is NOT the cause of anorexia, bulimia, plastic surgery etc. The girls with the upside down philosophy that believe they must starve themselves and what not that is the cause. In the realm of ideas, philosophy is ALWAYS the cause. Most people believe the standard of self-esteem is other people and that is where they went wrong. Self-esteem has two parts: self-confidence and self-respect. Self-confidence occurs when one believes one is competent to live in reality.
