SALINAS CA, CalWorks to close vital program housing 20 mothers (mostly Hispanic) and 60 kids annually in budget manuvering. $230,000 was cut to Nueva Esperanza, a program operated by Door to Hope (www.doortohope.org). The program will close its doors July 1, 2011. It is believed that the program saves Monterey County $1.4 Million a year in medical, emergency, police and legal services.
