This is a commercial for the Ford Taurus SHO which ran in the early 1990s. This spot shows a 2nd generation style SHO. I had one of these and I definitely miss it. I am uploading this as a tribute for the Ford Taurus which will have its last production run this week.

  • I hope I'm not the only one to notice this, but it has a rear wing, so it should be a 93 - 95, the 92s didn't come with a rear wing. Also, my car is a 93, and it has the same armrest, and it looks to have the later steering wheel, I can't quite tell, but it looks like it does. But if it doesn't, then the interior shots and the external shots were of different cars.

    Either way, awesome video!

  • @sifagaloa Yeah that's a good observation, must be a '93. My '92 didn't come with the rear wing but I added one.

  • Wow I just learned that Conan O'Brien owns a green '92 SHO.

  • this is for the 1989 taurus sho.

  • Nope, this is definitely the second generation SHO. This commercial ran in either late '91 or early '92, I believe, for the '92 model. Here's a couple of ways you can tell:

    1) The '89 GEN 1 model has "TAURUS SHO" branded on the door as opposed to this one which just has "SHO".

    2) The '89 GEN 1 model has "TAURUS" in chrome on the trunk lid as opposed to the GEN 2 which has "TAURUS" in the body color. YouTube user DrunknMunky1990 posted a commercial which shows the '89 version.

  • You are completely wrong. The 1989-1995 SHO had an engine completely designed and built by Yamaha in Japan. The 1996-1999 SHO had a V8 with a Ford block and Yamaha heads only and 32 valves.

    And on a V6, 4 valves per cylinder X 6 cylinders= 24 Valves.

I have a 1991 SHO 5spd, and I've done alot of work on the engine, so I know what I'm talking about.

  • Dodge Spirit R/T very ugly

  • @aclopezjr I know this comment is late, but it's most likely a '94 because in the commercial it says the Taurus is the best selling car again, which means '92 and '93. Just an observation....

  • @sifagaloa

The interior shot is definitely from a 90 or 91, look at that giant cable shifter! ('89's are all Grey.)

  • It looks like they used old footage for the interior, but the exterior screams 94/95.

  • ACTUALLY, since the door handles are body colored its a 94 or 95. The 93's were black handles.

  • LOL, no. the first body style (late 80's) was the robocop car!

  • i own a 91 absolutely the funnest car i have ever drove but that is a 92 color matched handles and emblem were pretty much the only change and they offered a 3.2 autmatic but the 3.0 v6 was still faster to 60 and 1/4 mile and had more top end than the v8s that were made later

  • Why does the interior shot have a cable shifter?

(cable shifted SHO's have a long shifter, the rod shifters are bent and much shorter)

Dash also looks to be pre-92

Looks like that is a 91 black interior...

  • Actually, it's a '92. Look at the armrest.
