Contraception is basic preventive health care for women—a simple truth that is too often lost in our political discourse. This video puts key facts front and center: Proper timing and spacing of births leads to healthier pregnancies; contraception, when used consistently, is highly effective; and cost can be a barrier to a woman using the contraceptive method that's right for her. This video was created by the Guttmacher Institute, a leading research and policy organization on sexual and reproductive health.

All medications have side effects. This is why THIS medication needs to be covered by your health insurance and provided to you by your doctor, who knows your history and can monitor your health while you are on the medication, and make adjustments if necessary. If the GOP/ conservatives were truly concerned about reducing the number of abortions and reducing health care costs, they'd be the ones promoting the benefits of contraception.

Mind telling me why anyone should care what the Pope has to say about contraception? Especially considering the whole celibacy thing?

Sure, because people never willingly choose to have babies--except when they frequently do.

I can't tell if this is a sarcastic "good job," or genuine. Because I think it's really fantastic that the world's population faces reduction. We certainly don't need any MORE people, and our current population simply isn't sustainable.

The information, though intense and packed into a short time frame is necessary to further the cause for effective and modern birth control methods to prevent unwanted pregnancies. Despite the infusion of billions from Bill & Melinda and other large organizations, other governments (predominantly conservative central american and african) are going to have to also buy into this argument as well. It's a battle we should all help to further.
