No need in bashing statistics if you don't know any somewhat trustworthy resources. No IE6 is not the most popular browser. It is Chrome now and have been for a long time already. And so the rest of your comment in fact is useless. I congratulate you for using Linux everywhere you want and punishing yourself, but the vast majority of people don't even know what is it. And those who try it, immediately switch back.

I don't know which shell you are living, but you should go argue with Valve, Google, Amazon etc. STATISTICS always lie, for example according to them the most popular browser is still ie6 (Hint: compatibility BS). And I am not blind fanboy, I use this system on desktop and server for over 8 years (hell, even all my routers run Linux), and it did not come preinstalled, so it was conscious decision.

Again, RH is free, its development&support aren't.

Dude I'm sorry, but I just can't keep myself out of laughing. Check out some statistics. There is almost no Linux on Desktop)) Also, despite you like Windows or not, STATISTICS tell us that Windows and Linux servers are distributed almost equally. They are equal in security and update cycles. I'm sorry to burst your shell, but check your facts first. No, Red Hat itself is not free, and this is the only system widely represented in Linux servers market share. Don't be the blind fanboy.

Your "math" is disconnected to reality. Linux Desktop is becoming stronger and stronger each year - KDE, GNOME, XFCE, RazorQt - you name it. Server Windows is useless insecure crap that is always shielded behind Linux/CISCO. RedHat is FREE, its updates - because human effort are not. Dont want updates - there is CentOS. Linux rules server platforms, not Unix. BSD is slower and less functional than Linux, Solaris is essentially database corner case. Your are as stupid as your own rant.

Learn some math. Desktop Windows has killed Linux long ago. Server Windows is equally represented on the market along with Red Hat, which is not free (in fact its support costs even more than that of Windows). Still, Unix rules the server platforms, which is not Linux. Yes Linux is used in few supercomputers for education needs, because they don't wanna spend additional money on paid OS, since they already spent all of their budget on high-end hardware. End of rant here.

By that I mean HUGE studios that are ONLY interested in money that produce "gayme AAA titles" that are aborted after 1-2 years.

They also target only SPECIFIC platforms, that usually have STRONG DRM.

Thats the major difference between good old games and today titles, that I refer as "gayming".

Nvidia is hated only due to closed source driver and obfuscating even basic "opensource" nv driver. So if they pull-out, its done with 3D on linux.

But LinuS here was refering to mobile area.

You confuse "gayming" with professional area. Linus was refering to professional area. Also recently Radeon and Intel started to perform admirablely on OPENSOURCE drivers, and also only THESE two companies invested in opensource graphics stack. This is where the hate in "gayming" area comes from - Nvidia supported Geforce via proprietary drivers long ago, but only "supported" in form of closed source end-user driver. That means, no Nvidia - no 3D for Linux(and many other OSes).

Not "forever", but only recently. And the area Torvalds sent Fuck You to Nvidia was not gay ass Radeon or gay ass Geforce, but mobile and server.
