@punipunipunisher come on. its only a movie.no need to be realistic. just enjoy the story. i love this movie... i thinks it is even better than saving private ryan. it made me cry even after the 6th time watching it.

@punipunipunisher actually, i can spot a significant amount of tactical error (purposely added) made by the communist political commissar, you can even see him arguing with captain Gu and contradicting each other while there's intensive combat.

i do have to agree that the super sniper and the hand signal thing was bullshit through..

The war actually started back in the 20's when the Nationalists decided to purge the Communists so the Nationalists would be the only party around. When Japan invaded, they created a temporary alliance to fight the Japanese and started fighting each other not long after Japan surrendered.

@BudzillR It was the Cold war, so western powers funded the nationalists while Soviet Union funded the communists.

@commander554 Both sides had. Chinese communists and non-communists (nationalists) fought together against the Japanese invasion during WW2, so they were armed by the allies (also enemies of the japs, as you probably know). When WW2 was over they didn't want to share power since they had completely different ideologies, so the civil war of 1945-1949 started and ended in a communist victory. Taiwan today are the remnants of the nationalist movement, who fled there after 1949.

@commander554 yes, because the non communists were helped i believe by the americans and british who exactly supplied them with weapons and ammo to fight off the communists

@commander554 1940s i think the communists (guys at the beginning) wanted to take over china after they defeated the japs so they had a war to see who would take china and they won and the non commies went to taiwan
