Culture is not your friend, it's an impediment to understanding what's going on. That's why to my mind the word cult and the word culture have a direct relationship to each other. Culture is a cult and if you feel revulsion at the thought of somebody offering to the great carrot, just notice that your own culture is an extremely repressive cult that leads to all kinds of humiliation and degradation, and automatic and unquestioned and unthinking behaviour.

I mean the American family is what keeps American psychotherapy alive and well. This is a cauldron for the production of neurosis.

Part of what psychedelics do, is they decondition you from cultural values. This is what makes it such a political hot potato, since all culture is a kind of congame, the most dangerous candy you can hand out is candy that makes people start questioning the rules of the game.

From the lecture: "Into the Valley of Novelty"

I made a high-quality version of this with kinetic typography over it. Please check it out on my channel. If you think it's good enough, thumb this comment up so others can see as well.

Mckenna is a succesful guide through this babylon of life this experience represents. But only a guide in a huge city, a nobody. Did you know there´s no enemy?. Did you know all of this is the only thing that makes sense to be experimented.

None claims to have the truth but everyone feels the truth in doing so.

No, what we see is not us. Us are corrupted. To think that what we see is us is relentlessly distubring ego trippings. What we see is something better than us. In every sense you can imagine. Beyond McKenna´s concepts.

If you read his books like "The Invisible Landscape" & more, and listen to his lectures, it's not hard to see he was a genius, and one of the bravest people in the world. He would never lead you wrong because he knows I'm not me and you're not you but WE are US, all things are one singular living organism. "I am you and what I see is me", Echoes but Pink Floyd & Grateful Dead"s message is the same as Terence's, changing the world means changing ourselves!

I don't read his words in the direction of condemning culture as such. By his experience he tries to emphasize on critical thinking towards established society, from a cultural perspective. In any case he was always quite clear that he didn't claim truth and was not an absolutist in any sense. The spoken word was a part of the art he saw as "fighting back". The ideas that he's conveying are quite difficult to put into words. Good communication is difficult, in my experience.
