Cal Henshaw playing Mazurka Appassionata by Agustin Barrios Mangore. This is a mazurka which is a polish dance, which is in 3/4 time and differs from a waltz in that the emphasis is on the second or third beat as opposed to the first. Barrios is a paraguayan neo-romantic composer.

  • OMG

how long did this take you?

i have been doin this for like 6 months and im still not this good.

  • I think it took me about 5 months to get it this good...

  • There are some players who just GET IT. How to let the music breathe, how to project with clarity, phrasing, timing and passion. This is the TRUE mastery that so many don't understand. Perfect!

  • thank you so much

  • thanks mate. yeah it's hard. i've been playing it for more than a year now (not when the video was recorded) and it's much more fun when you can get around it comfortably. Nah it's not a Prenkert. It's a Litchfield C900, a little nicer.

  • @PeterOzanne Its not the bars i was looking at sir. It was the Harmonics starting at 1:00, because the original sheet music you do not play it like this. Only John Williams on his 1970's recordings played it like this. Thats why i pointed it out.

  • @ditman333 Can you tell me which bar/bars are left out, and point me to a video where they are in? This is always a funny thing with Barrios, because apparently he wrote different versions of some pieces, and no-one seems to know which are the definitive ones - so maybe it's a question of personal preference? As long as it's played with feeling I guess we should just enjoy it :)

  • Muy bien tocado y además con "il tempo giusto"

    Bravooo

  • Okay there is one thing for certain my fellow, you listen to John Williams interpretation of this song! lol Cuz you took out a part of the song just like John Williams does, great. Sounds good, but you could fix the little buzzes once in a while =) Good luck

  • Great playing. I love Barrios' music .
