@TheSpiritof1969 well, once you are up there they don't really leave you a choice any more ;-) and im sure you could. in the end its "jumping" :-)
-
That is serious stuff given the amount of kit and equipment you had to go out the door with. .... not sure I could have done that.
-
@TheSpiritof1969 i started back in the 80s in the army and noone really cared about "stable" :-)
-
I started jumping back in the 80s in England when we had to work our way through a catagory system under rounds and then the awful ParaCommander before we could jump a square. The minimum you could do it in was 76 jumps. By that time we had well mastered staying flat and stable during opening so it was relatively rare to see twists with squares.
Both the twists I mentioned were my fault but that second one was a real wake up call.

@TheSpiritof1969 like i said: to me the spinning shown in this vid is what often happens te beginners, when the parachute starts to expand and is stable in the air from that point on, while the parachuter still turns into all directions coz of no control about his "falling". i have seen this kind of spinning with beginners, often

Nothing normal about twisting, maybe under the old round canopies but not with ram air. In 620 jumps, 540 under ram air, I only ever had twists on six occasions and just two were under ram air. The first of these was only a slight twisting like the one here, the second the same but suddenly became very violent and span me round with incredible force to the point that when I looked at the canopy it was on the horizon.
No recovering from that and I did my one and only cut away.

@TheSpiritof1969 it sure CAN but there was no prob with the twisting in THIS vid. like i said: THAT is the "normal twisting" you often have and can easily solve by pushing the main lines apart - like the guy in this vid does
