Worlds Fastest Wave - Maalaea Bay, June 15th, 2009

Maalaea Pipeline boasts the fastest wave in the world. 90MPH at its peak. After almost getting pounded into the wall, I decided to hop out and take some video.

Yea the waves were small that day and yes there are closeouts. Bottom line is, when it's pumping in the summertime and I know because I lived in the bay for 10 years, these waves are fast and the water is shallow as hell.

Tsunamis can travel between 50kmh-100kmh once on shoore, so these waves arent; that fast by comparison. But nice video though.
