I liked the way they gave an RPG such an open feeling, but still managed to give it a set story. Also, it felt, looked, and sounded so real even though it was fictional. The way it got you into the character like that, but still giving the reader choices, action, and adventure was great.

@stearn00 I thought the second one fell off a bit... the first one just seemed more fresh to me. plus, in the second one the villains weren't as cool I thought, and the storyline got a little crazy there at the end. that's just my opinion though

@KlashaB12 The storyline definitely kicks off like a generic kung-fu flick, but it gets a lot better in the second installment. The platform is the same, though, so it might not be a game for you if the first installment was as distasteful as you said.

@KlashaB12 Jokes on you if you picked up the dubbed version, it's indecently horrible. Tried it out myself but couldn't take more than a few minutes until I went for the original one instead. Sega dropped the ball on that one. The script isn't bad at all, though, not overly simplistic or complicated e.g MGS. Then again, Shenmue's all about even the mundane detail and the atmosphere. It's apparently not a game for you, though, nothing wrong with that. As I said, to each his own.

@KlashaB12 I personally consider Shenmue to be one of the most groundbreaking and breathtakingly genuine games of our time. It definitely isn't for everyone as this isn't a fast-paced game a lá 2000-theme but rather an interactive movie where the player has to indulge in the big picture but more so the details of every moment. It's all about the atmosphere and storyline, and hence not for gamers who prefer the action-oriented pace when there's a lot going on all the time. To each his own.

@JQJDaMan i just won shenmue not long ago and tbh it sucked. all i did was go around asking people for clues it go so boring but i stuck with it because of all your guy's hype of it and it was horrible im not even going to play number 2.
