Rather than spend $300-600 on a shoulder mount to steady my handheld camerawork, my husband Josh made one. You can too.

  • where did you get the gold pieces with quick release?

  • @birdblue4u3 and @yourmanjh actually, I was lucky to get those in a "grab bag" of lighting equipment. the person who sold me a few lights didn't know what they were, and just threw them in. but I know that companies like Jag35 (very affordable) sell plates like that. I know it's a bit of a cop-out that that's kinda the core of the rig, and we didn't build it *sheepish*...I guess the point is to look at what you have and get creative!

  • Nice work!

    Congratulations.

One question, is there any standar measure between the two long bar in the rails system?

    Greetings.

  • @mmunera that changes a little between companies - I tried to use a Zacuto follow-focus wheel on these rails, but they were too far apart. if you're planning on dressing your rig with accessories like that, it might be best to pick a company and go by their standards.

  • where did you get the gold pieces with quick release? I couldn't find one.

  • @nic3188 try Jag35 - they make pretty affordable and durable accessories

  • Nice job. Is there a way to find a good written tutorial on how to meke it ? Because since the audio of your video is compromised, I think it will be bette to get a good written tutorial instead, of to reshoot the video on how to make the mount.

  • very nicely put together! You gotta use some form of camera stabilizer when moving. I've been using the Cam Caddie Scorpion with great success obtaining smooth shots.

  • Great job! Looks real sharp!

  • @ultraret haha, yeah. :) this was shot using a little point-and-shoot camera with a movie function. crappy quality, but it gets the job done. I have since upgraded to much more sophisticated equipment!

  • wow the audio sucks waste

  • Good job!

  • great job. one of the best home made rigs i seen. try one with a cage.
