Atheist-turned-Christian Lee Strobel, the former award-winning legal editor of The Chicago Tribune, is a New York Times best-selling author of nearly twenty books and has been interviewed on numerous national television programs, including ABC's 20/20, Fox News, and CNN.

Described by the Washington Post as "one of the evangelical community's most popular apologists," Lee shared the prestigious Charles "Kip" Jordon Christian Book of the Year award in 2005 for a curriculum he co-authored about the movie The Passion of the Christ. He also has won awards for his books The Case for Christ, The Case for Faith, The Case for a Creator, and Inside the Mind of Unchurched Harry and Mary.

Lee was educated at the University of Missouri (Bachelor of Journalism degree, 1974) and Yale Law School (Master of Studies in Law degree, 1979). He was a professional journalist for 14 years at The Chicago Tribune and other newspapers, winning Illinois' top honors for investigative reporting (which he shared with a team he led) and public service journalism from United Press International.

After a nearly two-year investigation of the evidence for Jesus, Lee received Christ as his forgiver and leader in 1981. He joined the staff of Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, IL, in 1987, and later became a teaching pastor there. He joined Saddleback Valley Community Church in Lake Forest, CA, as a teaching pastor in 2000. He left Saddleback's staff in mid-2002 to focus on writing. He is also a contributing editor and columnist for Outreach magazine.

Lee's other books include God's Outrageous Claims, The Case for Christmas, The Case for Easter, What Jesus Would Say, Exploring the Da Vinci Code (co-authored with Garry Poole) and Surviving a Spiritual Mismatch in Marriage, which he wrote with his wife, Leslie. For two seasons, Lee was executive producer and host of the weekly national network television program Faith Under Fire.

Lee is also co-author of the Becoming a Contagious Christian training curriculum, which is used around the world, and his articles have been published in a variety of magazines, including Discipleship Journal, Marriage Partnership, The Christian Research Journal, Guideposts, and Decision. He has appeared on such national radio programs as The Bible Answer Man and Focus on the Family. In addition, he has taught First Amendment law at Roosevelt University.

Lee and Leslie have been married for over 33 years and live in Southern California. Their daughter, Alison, is novelist whose second book will be published in 2006 by WaterBrook Press, a division of Random House. Their son, Kyle, is currently earning his third master's degree at the Talbot School of Theology; his first book is forthcoming from Baker Books.

  • The fact that Santa Claus, the Eastern Bunny and fairies have not been seen recently doesn't prove that they don't exist, right?

I think we should move on and start debating the existence of the sun or the beach, there are many people who have never seen them up close or touch them with their hands and are very skeptical.

  • The universe was created by a command and there must be an intelligent designer! There is no such a thing as coincidence! Science can only explain things that can be observed and rationalized. You cannot see the wind but you know it's there, or you believe in history but you have never seen it. For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate. For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him! 1 Corin 18.

  • I must be a special kind of atheist, I do not believe in man made gods or that one being is the end all and creator. If a super being exists, and it is a quite unlikely it does. I guarantee that it would not give a shit about what you eat or who you sleep with, hell it may not even be aware that it created anything. Why do your gods have to be so petty and resemble man? Man searches for things he cannot know and creates Gods. Atheists search for answers to real questions.

  • What kind of god would let Lee go on TV with a haircut like that?

  • @CJGitruh The sense of sight evolved to allow animals to detect only those objects that reflect light. The act of seeing a thing does not bring it into existence. Therefore, a thing that is not seen can exist, just as a thing that is seen can exist. This also includes god. If god is invisible, god can still exist. This is not an argument I have ever made. Why are you asking a question, insinuating a premise upon me, which I have never expressed? Are you a strawman building piece of shit?

  • Many things (wind, love) cant be 'seen' but that doesnt mean they dont exist. I can see the destruction caused by wind, Feel it blow. I will deny everything to save my child from harm, even die for him. I love. Nature reveals that God created. The Heavens declare creation of God. Many facts make it impossible to deny a creation. The heart that wants to deny God exists says it evolved. Its a HUGE leap of faith to believe it evolved. Where are the fossil records to reflect that?

  • @tshirtdiaperwearer Love cannot be SEEN. Does that mean it doesnt exist?

  • Hgggh

  • @MyPersonalFavourites If reading this thing is so important to being a muslim, why are so many illiterate? Have I not explained to you that I won't consider a book 'holy' when it starts with the premise that the only language I know, english, is not the proper one to fully understand it. Lastly, it is not necessary to read the quran to know its claims are crazy. Muhmad was no prophet, just like Smith was no prophet. Why don't you read the book of mormon and find out if you are a mormon?

  • @MyPersonalFavourites I didn't say exaggerating. I said you are being lied to by these videos you are bragging about regarding both the extent and importance of western scientist conversion. For one, conversion doesn't matter in regards to the truth claims of islam, and two, the number of conversions is probably insignificantly small in relation to the number of people in this particular category that you seem to glorify. How do you go from thinking god can't be seen to muhmad is a prophet?
