  • Just reminding myself how old this piece is while listening to it, almost brings a tear to my eye every time. It's over 500 years old and it's still around us... an image of these times which could not be more vivid and present than it is now because of the music that survived. All those pieces have captured a part of the composer's souls and kept it on earth while they traveled to another place be it heaven or nirvana.

That is what music means to me.

Thank you very much for uploading this!

  • O Patris caritas, (O love of the Father) O Nati lenitas! (O gentleness of the Son) Deeply were we stain `ed Per nostra crimina; (For our sins) But thou hast for us gain `ed Coelorum gaudia. (The joys of heaven) O that we were there! . Ubi sunt gaudia, (Where are those joys) Where, if that they be not there? There are angels singing Nova cantica, (New songs) There the bells are ringing In Regis curia: (In the King's court) O that we were there!

  • Mm, sounds like they pitched the piece in F# Major, rather than F major; possibly to add a more depth to the bass section?

  • I played a strings/instrumental version of this on my radio show and was into straight to hell from the clash in three songs...quite a broad range and was received well from my listeners at kzyx.org

  • @KidnapsNinja If anything, I think they take it a tiny bit TOO fast. But it is a fine version!

  • @slgardn Nah, its Oldfields fault >.<

  • @KidnapsNinja That might be because you've heard this melody as "Good Christian Men, Rejoice" which is done WAY faster.

  • I always thought this should be Sung ten times faster

  • fuck this wheres oldfield at

  • So beautiful! As much as I love modern music, I'm glad I can see the beauty in music like this as well. :')

I'm so excited for Christmas! <3

  • We're singing this in our Choir, and it sounds lovely :)
