Mantid is kind of dull to fight. He spends most of the fight invulnerable, and can only be damaged when he stands up tall to either feed on colour drops or throw a blast at you. You can prolong his vulnerability by running infront of him while he feeds, forcing him to take a swipe at you - just make sure you dodge! Since his spikes keep him well off the ground, Ritual and Sleeper/Sentinel are useless as I learned the hard way.

Mantid:
"The Sisters are afraid of death, yet they preach murder and suicide. They demand a noble sacrifice from you, but at what price? Something of real value is always expensive - you have to give away a great deal. And to give a lot, you must first take a lot.
That's what your creation is doing - it's killing the life that gave birth to you and breastfed you. Sisters are murderers, and you follow in their footsteps even when their wild intentions become clear. That's why, young one, you would be better off dead - before you ruin everything.
Come with me."

  • Hm... How can you fill only one heart of sisters (except Nameless, I suppose) and proceed further than 1/3 of game world?

  • @Mastikomanishe

As far as i'm aware, you can't. Excluding Nameless, one heart is realm access, two hearts is passage to the next realm.

  • His "footsteps" play in perfect symphony with the music lol

I think if you open lots of hearts and then go to see him without fighting him, he says something along the lines of how sad it is that you've let him down, and warns you that he'll be forced to execute you if you stray too far from the teachings of the brothers, adding that he is giving you the warning because he cares about you and doesn't want to have to kill you.

  • @LuminarNightblade I agree for everything but the Triumphator bit ;) the only random dialogue I remember from him is along the lines of "let's not give a damn about this puny weakling, he's completely harmless and if he tries something funny we can just smash him anyways". He's one of the best boss fights tho. HOOONNNKKKKK XD

Mantid is actually a massive asshole who is trying to engineer an "excuse" to kill you. He's not nearly as much of a dick as Warden is, but he's pretty damn close.

You're on the money with Patriarch and Caterpillar though. Suprisingly Triumphator also cares a great deal about you, which is revealed if you happen to encounter some of his seldom-encountered dialogue. Montgolfier i'm not sure about. I'm not sure if he cares about you or if you're some kind of pawn in a plan of his.

  • @IspodUxie44 Mantid seems to be pretty cool but I thought he was only faking interest to you and minding his own business since he first speaks to you. I think Patriarch and Montgolfier (and maybe Caterpillar), on the other hand, genuinely care about you and wish you to become the most powerful of the Brothers.

  • Brilliant game 10/10. This game stands out from the rest. The english verison is just brilliant, it really potrays a superb story of each side tellings it own verison and understanding of what is happening around them. This combined with the lack of introduction to the game (A positive thing in my eyes) really allows you to explore who is telling a truth and who i bullshitting. Its just absolutly outstanding, the best post death adventure games EVER!

  • @IspodUxie44 i want to read...where?
