I agree. We asked for minimum sentences for violent crime and the government introduces legislation creating mandatory minimum sentences for the possession of pot and Im left wondering what on earth they were thinking.
I think they also make a brave bit of money trading the BC Bud for cocaine and selling it as crack but I do see crack and meth as the problem not pot. Cheers.
im on the same page as you. The Canadian government spends about 500 million on the war on drugs. 400 million of that, is spent on marijuana, while the rest is spent on crack, meth, the date rape drug and etc. It has been proven that these gangs get all of their money through the drug trade. Most of it is through marijuana. I believe 80 percent of their profits is from marijuana. So my suggest, make it legal and tax it just like Alcohol is...
I dont have a problem with decriminalizing marijuana but we need to draw a line between marijuana and crack. Legalizing crack and crystal meth would be just plain irresponsible. Right now we are experiencing lawlessness from bad laws for violent crime and bad judges. Legalizing every drug under the sun would take us from lawlessness to anarchy.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. I just don't like it how marijuana smokers get mixed with gangs.

Legalize marijuana. It will take away the profits from these gangs.
