Another 259e "demo." Actually the voice consists of the 259e oscillators combined in the 285e balanced modulator, then sent to the 292e dynamics manager, then to the 291e filter. All of the elements in this chain receive the same envelope modulation. I am altering the parameters on these modules during the video. The bass kick is the 261e sine with envelope modulation, the snare is 259e mem skew through the 291e filter, and the "hihat" is the 266e noise through the 281e filter. Similar to the last video, but a lot easier on the ears!

  • @hawklord2112 Sold off the euro to fund it. Modulars are not cheap, unfortunately.

  • @genxtargetmarket I think that what I originally meant to convey was pretty easy to understand. Modulars are definitely capable of making some awesome timbres, but the overwhelming majority of modular music and demos I come across are crap. At the bottom of it all I suspect that I'm just jealous of people that can afford to drop thousands upon thousands of dollars on music gear. Must be nice.

  • @VincentsVideoVisions

Been a while since I've unintentionally 'trolled'... or even intentionally for that matter.

Anyhow, it's good of you to clarify what you meant to convey. It really puts the reader at a disadvantage when effort isn't put in to communicating to the outside world that which is understood internally. If one looks at the original statement, which pertains to a 'wise investment', it is now pretty clear that the subsequent points are much more well formulated. Thanks.

  • @genxtargetmarket Well, since you're going to intentionally troll regarding word choice, one could say that this modular is a wise investment from a financial standpoint, since it will probably go up in value. However, in this case, "wise" could describe bang-for-the-buck, and that's what I was getting at. Are Buchlas crap? Obviously not. Are they worth the money? Not in my opinion. Not at all.

  • @VincentsVideoVisions

Ah, I see. So "wisely" was typed instead of "differently". Gotcha. No big deal.

  • @genxtargetmarket Well, I don't know how much this particular modular costs exactly, but I am assuming that I could probably buy several awesome pieces of gear for the same price because Buchla stuff is crazy expensive. In fact, I could probably buy a whole live PA / home studio rig for the same price. I mean with just a Jomox XBase 888 and a Roland SH-101 alone I could do something better. I'm not hating on the video poster... I'm just saying that I'd spend my cash differently

  • @VincentsVideoVisions

Share the wisdom, brother! What is it?

  • interesting but I think money could be more wisely invested

  • Funky! I find the 261e to be pretty good at percussive sounds but you take it all a couple of steps further, very well done!

  • @boobtube356 Honestly it had to be worth it though, seems like you're having loads of fun with this :D

  • Excellent demo !!!

    5***** ; )
