Answer to Nyquest, I produced the film from bits of old footage obtained from the shaft sinking company Cementation about 15 years ago.
Modern technology has allowed me to edit this and get it onto DVD. For a while I sold the DVD on Ebay which is where this has orginated. I was not asked for permission to post it. I can see now why it suddenly stopped selling!
brilliant set of vids steven, made a refreshing change to see something worthwhile about newton rather than the " me and my homies getting wasted " type vids that usualy get posted about newton, thanks for posting

My dad worked here up until the closure. Just got back from a visit to the National Coal Mining Museum in Yorkshire. Recommended.

Excellent film, was this an NCB film unit production?
Where did you get it?
I worked at Parkside for a few months in 1992 as a contractor just befor it closed.
Completely changed carreer & I am in the planning stages of making a doco on ex miners in the Wigan & Noth West region
