Oh, there's two squirrels chasing each other for a cone over there! Whoops, one of the rascals fell out of the tree into a tailings pond! But luckily it landed on a pile of 1,600 dead ducks. I love nature. Thank god for the oil industry.

Are you also reclaiming the lives of all those natives downstream that are dying because of the toxins released by the tar sands? I know that Alberta is overrun by Evangelical Christians who actually believe in all that resurrection shit, but seriously. I guess giving a whole lot of people cancer and other illnesses is OK if it makes a few bucks, right?

sprawlville, Oilsands/tarsands are commonly associated with exaggerations and factual errors. That's part of the reason for this campaign. "Filling a hole of dirt" wouldn't cut it with the researchers involved either; 25 to be exact —five scientists and 20 graduate students—from four Canadian universities. To date, Gov of Alberta records say 53,000 hectares have been disturbed for oil sands mining (a far cry from 1.6 million!), and some of that has already been reclaimed.
