I've just added a response which is my own version of the video - I managed to work out how to encode it to minimise the recompression. See that one for a full minute of beeping, all the way to the "scroll?"...

Ta very much Dr A! Those who saw the previous version, in glorious FuzzyVision(tm) will thank you for this one...
For those who want to reproduce. Use your favourite sound capturing tool to grab the screech of the end of the "Guitar Fever" video. (I used Sound Recorder and a lead to connect my headphone and mic sockets - ooh, high tech). Reverse the sound (I used Audacity for this bit) and save as WAV. Then load up a ZX Spectrum emulator that can load WAV files (I used SpecEmu). Voila.

I managed to do this myself but I bypassed a couple of steps. In Audacity, I set the drop-down menu next to the microphone slider to 'Stereo Mix', allowing me to record directly from YouTube. Also, the emulator I used was Klive, which has a Real Tape Mode option under the Tape Control menu. This allowed me to load the program directly from Audacity.

Unfortunately the sound chipset I'm using is missing that ability (yes, I know, weird and annoying at the same time). 3.5mm jack leads were good enough for the real Speccy, they're good enough for me!
