Single leg unsupported exercises are a great way in strengthening your hip muscles, especially your glute med. Progress from body weight to dumb bells and finally changing the surface your supporting leg is on. Exercises like this will help alleviate anterior knee pain. If you have any other questions feel free to check out www.painfreerunning.wordpress.com for all of your rehabilitation and prehab needs!
Stay on your heel of the supporting foot. Sit back as far as you can and SIT SOFTLY! Try to keep your knee from coming in as much as you can.
2-3 sets of 8-10 reps (body weight)
