24 hours in the life of Nottingham's first commercial radio station, Radio Trent. Now known as 96 Trent FM, this film was made when the station was just two years old in 1977. Look out for Dale Winton, Len Groat, John Peters and more broadcasting from 'Trent Towers' on Castle Gate.

  • Now were talking. This film looks dated now but without doubt, this is one of the best radio stations this country has ever had. GEM and Trent FM were outstanding up to the mid nineties, then the sparkle seemed to just fade away somehow.

  • Never forget this - There's only ONE John Peters.

  • From the days when radio was good and actually local, with good presenters and great music. My areas station is Signal radio 1 and 2. They are both dire. They play the same playlist of tracks day in day out. Always the same Queen, Abba and Police etc. Most of the presenters are garbage as well, you can tell they are just doing a job now. Two guys are actually on 7 days with the same old drivel. Mind you a lot of it is voice tracked from Cheshire. ILR, killed by the suits and vtr.

  • Global Radio are full of shit. Now it's time to fight back! Roll on Trent Sound!

  • After the closure of Trent FM, we wanted to tell you about the launch of trent.fm on 01 June 2011, it will re-capture the magic of Radio Trent from the 1980s and early 1990s and aims to bring local radio back to Nottingham, the capital's London and Trent is Nottingham! We are looking for programme ideas and any ex-Trent staff will be VERY welcome.

  • @sakaspuds - yeah i often wonder that.... he used DJ every Tuesday (and later, Friday) nights at The Fan Club in Leicester around 1991 into early '92 - playing pretty much similar to what he did on the radio. Nice guy too - played my demo a couple of times on the show.

  • R.I.P. Trent FM. MURDERED BY THAT RAPIST CUNT TABOR,

  • Rip trent and Ram

  • what happened to mark spivey, i never mised 'get on the good foot' back in the early 90s

  • The Great John Peters can be heard on Gravity FM - a community radio station based in Grantham - on Saturday afternoons from 2pm til 5pm.

  • Absolutely fantastic. Such a shame that Ofcom allowed ILR to end up barely a shadow of what it was, and what it was created for. I think of myself lucky to have caught John Peters in the early nineties at Gem.

  • John Peters has always been one of my favourite radio presenters.
