This will show you how to have KDE and GNOME co-existing peacefully on one machine. Similar process for XFCE, just search "Xubuntu" in Synaptic instead of "Kubuntu"

  • Can you change back?

  • @TomHopkins24 Yes. When you are at the login screen, there will be an option called "session" where you can pick.

  • I have Windows 7 and I've used KDE, all windows is a KDE knockoff.

  • @Protomasterexe Well, I agree (sort of) for Vista and 7. XP and earlier bear no resemblance, and I'm not sure KDE existed when XP came out. But after really using Windows 7 as my primary OS (on my Windows side anyway), I retract my statement thet they didn't steal. Aero is a blatant knockoff of KDE.

  • hey, i wanted to ask, (even though i'll sound like a noob) how do you7 actually GET into KDE after you log out... i believe its at the bottom of the log-in screen.. is that right?

  • it's in an options menu I believe.

you can have both gnome & KDE in the same desktop.

  • Nobody ever said W7 copied KDE

However people didn't see any difference before W7 was out...
