Woodpeckers peck to find food. This pecking will cause damage and will almost always cause a tree to die off and rot a lot faster than normal. Insects that live in wood like carpenter bees and wood borers will attract wood peckers and this will happen on homes which get pest infestations. Treat infested wood with Ropel to stop the pecking. Install our Jumping Attack Spider to scare off wood peckers that are feeding.

  • @andysanj I appreciate your sentiments, though they are misplaced. I was being sarcastic to the two previous posts - any blithering idiot would realise that gassing a woodpecker would be fraught with difficulties. I actually quite like the buggers - hence my woodpecker youtube clips. I don't hate you, Andy, I love you like a woodpecker loves wood.

  • my friend's woodpecker that she just bought! she made a wood for a cage(baaad idea) now the woodpecker flew because it pecked the wood! (common sense caitlyn!!!)

  • I like to gas my woodpeckers, personally. Some say that I must be incredibly sad to see such a fabulous creature as a pest. Ah but, I tell 'em, I didn't move all the way out into the countryside to be bothered by animals and birds. They can go and live somewhere else - Alaska or the poles, where there aint no man. Or I'll gas 'em. Simples.
