Labour, Conservative and that other party are all blowing their own trumpets about what they've done for Derby. We are the only city in the UK not to have a bus station or a theatre. Meanwhile developers destroy valuable landmark buildings like the Hippodrome, whilst leaving other cleared/available sites to sit idle. Shops constantly closing down, but hey! at least we've got a £350 million shopping centre/grey box and the Quad.
Still,things could be worse ..... just look at Nottingham and Leicester !!!

I have lived in Derby for over 7 years, and I think it is a fairly nice place to be honest.. Stop bringing down your own area, if you dont like it.. simple.. MOVE AWAY!!

Derby is a great city, the westfield is pretty crap though! When Debs was on victoria street it was a much busier city, that side is all bars now!

Just the start...all those empty shops can now be used as justification for the rest of the town centre being demolished, so the new buildings can be owned by very different people and be controlled by very cynical new leases, for example some leases already state that the freeholder automatically gets a cut of any property sale. Do yourselves a favour once and for all and dont support the big developments...

It's not called 'Irongate' any more.
The council have renamed it the 'cathedral quarter'.It's still full of empty shops just like before,but it now sounds a lot trendier.
