Ted Kirkpatrick. A true Neil Peart disciple!

One thing I've noticed afterall, mostly , best musicians with Christian views and glorified lyrics always get underrated, no matter what they play or how good their music is. As a matter of fact, Ted drumming style has had a great influence on manny drummers. Infact, Ted was & is really a good drummer. Never seen any drummer playing like Ted. His lyrics glorified the Lord instead of talking rubbish.

@timekiller1991 One thing I've learned after 28 years in this business,,, people who can't play something don't "like" it , bash it, want to hear/play/learn it,,, or look at it open mindedly,,,, rip on it and bad-mouth it. After that response, I don't even need to elaborate. I wasn't bashing Ted,just posting what I thought was an opinion on one of the better drum solo's out there to be watched in case someone want's to learn something fairly impressive behind the kit. Sorry to offend-

Wanna see a REEEAL drum solo?????? Look up : Mikkey Dee/Motorhead drum solo. Whole different realm there. Nothin' gainst Ted...............

@amitbarfs: OK. I think I understand what you are meaning. And I agree: I hear this phrase very often too. But in this case it simply hits the nails head. Ted is able to play complex solos, rhythms and puts this ability into a lot of songs. But on the other hand you will find A LOT of simple stuff and very straightforward and basic parts, especially thrash metal parts that (appear to) need no brain at all.
Being able to "gear down" in the right moment is a good thing to "serve the song". :-)

yeah it was more about the statement "serve the song", i hear it a lot from people who don't know what they're talking about and just copy what music critics say. "serve the song" is kind of a meaningless phrase meant to dismiss real musicianship.

@amitbarfs: OK, maybe my english is too bad to get what you are complaining about...
u'r right bro i've never seen a drummer like ted! and when i used to be a kid I used to say that he was the best drummer in the world! and I still thinking the same!!
