Mr. Kell, there's just no way man can drill into the earth, pump brine and chemicals into the hole at high pressure, break up the ground and not have it affect the earth and what's in it. I work in a county in Ohio that had an oil boom in the 60s, and now I drive through clouds of leaking gas from those (vertical) wells every day. Additionally, the cancer rate in the southern end of that county has been suspect for years. What price do we put on human life in the name of creating jobs?

The reason it's difficult to prove a definitive causal link between industrial pollution and increased incidence of disease is because of all the expensive research required in order to RULE OUT any other alternative methods of causation. Just because it's difficult to actually prove without a doubt that increased industrial pollution is NOT contributing to increased incidence of cancer in Barnett doesn't mean it's not happening. It does mean that it's easy for those with an agenda to OBFUSCATE.

I think you do have to look at the sources that are calling into question the cancer spike. The Texas Cancer registry and the professor at the University of Texas?! Come one! Texas based organizations have a stake in saying that their state is NOT endangering the lives of its inhabitants. Besides, proving a causal link between industrial pollution & increased incidence of diseases like cancer is notoriously difficult to prove, especially in a court of law.

Good point! Don't forget that the Susan G Komen Foundation decided to take advice from Ari Fleischer and tried to de-fund Planned Parenthood & thereby politicize their charitable work. I don't trust such an organization.
