It's one thing to say it directly that she ought to be more mature now without changing her actual personality. It's another thing to make her read a book, as if she needs education. It's the connotation. Also the Darcy word thing.

I think the title 2+1 is more of a narrative about Lydia acting more like a 3 year old than a 21 year old.

Lydia IS irresponsible and she DOESN'T think before she says stuff. She's been taking Xanax un prescribed, under-aged drinking to the point of being out of control, as well as a ton of other behavior that mark her as flighty and flaky. Lizzie is practical minded and very responsible and mature, she truly believes she's helping her sister. No one's saying Lydia needs to build a 401K, but things need to chance. Now. Some of the stuff she does could get her arrested or worse if Lizze weren't there.
