A performance of "Voskreshenije Lazarja" (The Raising of Lazarus) by Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873-1943) and "Blagoslovljaju vas, lesa" (I bless you, forests) by Pytor Illyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893).
Translation:
Voskreshenije Lazarja
Oh Lord of Heaven! Man's commands
Are naught beside thy single word,
Thou hast compelled the grave to open
And called the beggar Lazarus forth.
Repeat Thy wondrous work of marvel,
And bid my soul arise again,
With breath divine its life regaining,
To share thy glory and thy crown!
So shall my voice with proud endeavor,
In strength renewed and courage brave,
To God, on high, give praise for ever,
And Him, who died, our sins to save!
Blagoslovljaju vas, lesa (2:07)
I bless you, forests, valleys, fields, mountains, waters,
I bless freedom and blue skies.
I bless my staff and my humble rags.
And the steppe from beginning to end,
And the sun's light, and night's darkness,
And the path I walk, pauper that I am,
And, in the field every blade of grass,
and every star in the sky!
O! if only I could encompass all life,
And join my soul with yours.
O! if only I could embrace you all,
Enemies, friends and brothers, and all nature,
And enfold all nature in my arms!
Nice. Was this piece made to be preformed on piano?
