Christopher Atkinson, piano performs Darknesse Visible by Thomas Adès (b. 1971) A contemporary transcription of the John Dowland lute song 'in Darknesse Let mee Dwell' (1610) Echoes of the original melody and harmony can be heard amongst shimmering repeated notes, as if imitating the lute. None of the harmonies have been changed from the original song, however they have been re-arranged to explore the great depth of timbre found in modern grand pianos.
