use a dog shocking collar fixed to the halter it will zap the horse when the crib it works and don't take but a couple of times

@TheFordsforme the problem I foresee with that method is inconsistency. I wouldn't want to leave a collar ( or a halter for that matter) on a horse when I wasn't around. as soon as the horse realized that it got "zapped" only when the collar was on... or only when you were watching.. then that's when the behavior would stop... when you weren't around the behavior , no doubt, would resume. also some horses would very likely be traumatized by this method don't you think?

@BAequine i agree with you but it worked with my horse he will not even go near the little spot that he liked before.also about leaving it on him we used the dog barking collar at night , cause my horse when he cribbed made a huge grunting noise like most of them do and the collar reacted to that and it kept him from doing it.i noticed that when he is put up in the winter he loses weight cause he must get really bored but as long as he is out he dosen't do it.either way it hepled me help him.

@TheFordsforme the most important thing is how much you care about your pony and how you are monitoring his weight and general health. he is lucky to have someone who loves him like you :)

@TheFordsforme to continue..... some horses would be traumatized by this method because the cribbing is a response to stress, and is the horse's own stress release management system.... I'd try to find another solution I think

If there's a way you can "entertain him" ie extra hay...night time pasture turn out... a hanging stall ball... any divertion or enriching activity that would give him something else to do...vices start out of tension or boredom

MAYBE..it can be a really ingrained habit..(DON'T discipline him, it'll only make you both crabby)I cap my top surfaces w aluminum and this prevents them from ever starting the habit...another affordable approach is to coat all surfaces w a distasteful NONTOXIC substance like rubbing a bar of ivory soap on them,(tabasco or hot sauce are OK but cost more and smell worse) also "Chew Stop" is a commercial product that is for the same problem

Hello, Um I was wondering,... "windStucking" or Cribbing is what exactly, My Horse likes to Chew his Stall at night, i thought it was Cribbing but I am not sure now, it doesn't look liek what your horse is doing, it looks more like Chewing... Can You Help>
