Let's Draw #1 - Gaara of the Sand (Naruto/Naruto: Shippuden)

Salutations, all!

Welcome to video #1 in my new youtube video series, Let's Draw! This is the video series where you challenge me to draw things and I try to do so on adobe photoshop! Neat, eh? Today's subject is the pretty boy Kazekage we all know and love, Gaara of the Sand! This subject was requested by TheDrunkBanana. Now, this was somewhat challenging to draw. I thought at first it might be easy, as Gaara has a very specific look about him. But the truth is, the more simple the look of a subject, the more difficult it could be to replicate, as a subject's simple signature looks must be done right or it won't look like him at all.

For today's subject, I decided to draw Gaara as slightly younger than he usually is in the Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden anime. Which was smart, as drawing a younger Gaara gives me more room. (Older Gaara has sharper and more refined features.) It's a good subject for a drawing noob, or in my case, someone who has never drawn Gaara and is somewhat rusty on her artwork. This picture is far from perfect. I think the features are uneven and I should have used a much thinner line of lead. But it has definately stirred my appetite to get crackin' on my artwork, which I most certainly will. By the way, don't let me be the only critc of my artwork. I can take honest criticism. It will only help me get better. Please, post your two cents in the comments below. P.S.: See if you can spot where TheDrunkBanana wished me Happy Birthday (Jan.21st is my B-Day) on Steam. lol

you did perfect on shading and the shaping of gaara, only thing they dosnt make it 10/10 is the color shades a little off :P BUT OTHER THEN THAT ITS AMAZING :D

@TheDrunkBananna Yeah, I definately shaded the hair wrong. Right now I'm kicking myself hard for it. lol I shouldn't have used shading so... greenish-brown.

Awesome new series. So you are using photosho, but are you using a mouse or tablet? Also, it might be cool to hear you talking yourself through it too. Maybe you could even give pointers to new artists that are interested in drawing, maybe different techniques? Just a thought. Very excited to see your next one! :-D

@PrinceSephiroth yeah I understand how frustrating it can get with youtube upload times and videos. my own lp videos are on hiatus at the moment for 2 reasons. 1 being work the other is the editing process I currently have to do is well very tedious due to desync. that's not including youtube upload time. :) that being said concider that the last time I do a "first" in any comment.
