This is a hair tutorial video on how to create a two tone hair color effect using a slicing technique with foils. Blonde was applied to the top and sides and brown in the back. You can go as light or dark with your hair color as you like. You could also use a Red color:)

  • My Natural hair 8-9level. Old stylist did slicing at an angle for highlights with a base color at 6or7, can't remember. Anyways it gave me a great blonde color effect. Since then I moved. No other stylist seems to get that I want a blended highlight and I have told them old stylist sliced the highlights. Is this something stylists don't know? I've given up going to a salon. Can I do this myself? Yes I am able. Or if I go back to a stylist what o I tell them I want? Ty

  • @mpokiku Your stylist before sounded like she had a good formula for you. It also sounds pretty straight forward in what you are asking for. Some stylists do not know how to do this, but a good Hair colorist should know. If you have any old pictures of yourself with this color or you can find a picture to bring with you that always is a big help. You'll find another Hair stylist you like...just keep asking around:) Good Luck:)

  • Well it looks great! I have only used 20 volume and up for lift. I'll have to try it! :)

  • @ufcknockout3 If you use a lower volume it is less damaging. you can even use 5 volume with bleach if you only want to lift a couple of shades. Although if you need to bleach through previously color treated hair...always use at least 20 volume.

  • I thought 10 volume was for deposit only!?

  • @ufcknockout3 You can use 10 volume with bleach and get it to lift:)

  • great video with easy instructions thanks for the principles basics in this

  • Hi Tammy, love ur videos. could u please please please do a video or blog on hair dyeing principles..eg..when to use developer, bleach, toner and how to mix ratios for colour treated, grey and virgin hair etc. thanks so much :-)

  • Thank you for the reply. I have taken pics to show. I have been to 5or so diff stylists, no one gets it. Do you think showing you video will help? Lol

  • I always use 20 volume on my clients, their hair is previously processed. I rarely use 30 only on very dark hair that want it a lot lighter. I am now on the lookout for semi virgin hair to try this on. Thank you for the input, Tammy! :)

  • Love this color and cut!!

  • Sorry for the double post, oops. Lol
