On Sunday, May 23, 2010, in Echo Park, Los Angeles, California, I performed SONG OF CHE CHANGO at the 17th Annual Cuban Music Festival. It is a fifteen minute-long poem/spoken word piece that I wrote which ends in performance art. The work explores Che Guevara the Icon and Che Guevara his words and deeds. I performed the entire piece at the festival, however this video shows only the second part of the performance, which includes the rap with percussion and the performance art. The piece is part of a larger multimedia work-in-progress which I call CEIBA DE CUBA. As usual, my five young sons accompanied me on percussion.
