It is only through looking at more than 400 years of black history that we can understand what is happening today, said Dr. George Elliott Clarke, speaking at the President's Lecture Series at Humber College on February 9.

Clarke was speaking on the importance of black history in Canada, something that he believes many people know very little about. His talk quickly wove through history, going from the time of Columbus discovering the New World, to the present day with Barack Obama winning the presidency of the United States. Mostly though, it focused on Canada's black history.
